I am Marja Hakola, a free lance writer living and working in Helsinki. Huckleberry Communication has been my trade name for more than 20 years.
I am an all-round writer and reporter. At the moment I write a lot about building and architecture and life-style. I regularly write about new building projects in and around Helsinki for a building trade magazine called Projektiuutiset.
I also translate texts from English into Finnish and vice versa.

Huckleberry Walks offers guiding and touring services in Helsinki and its surroundings, both in Finnish and English. As an authorized Helsinki Guide I can take you around Helsinki and show you all the main sights – and much more!
If you are a fan of Alvar Aalto's architecture, I can take you on a special Aalto Tour (by bike, by tram, by buss of by car) to his home and studio and check out his masterpieces in Helsinki on the way. Or, if it is music that makes you tick, we can hop on the buss and go visit the beautiful home of our national composer Jean Sibelius.
huckleberry talks
represents a poetry group Eläväiset Lausujat (Lively Performers) – a group of three women (plus one man off and on) who aims to interpret poems in a natural and personal way. The group has performed together more than ten years – both in public and at private gatherings. Our repertoire includes poems in different Finnish dialects and in English. Our show "The Presidents' wives" with poems by Jenni Haukio (first performed during the The Night of the Arts in 2013) was very succesful. We are now putting together a program on Aino Sibelius, the wife of Jean.
